British company Redline Assured Security has demanded Tk 58 crore for overall security management at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for six months while negotiation with another British company, Restrata, was going on yesterday.

Air Vice-Marshal Ehsanul Gani Chowdhury has been made the chairman of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (Caab).

All was well for him until the recent UK ban on direct cargo from Dhaka to London. The UK Department of Transport says, “Recent security assessments of Dhaka International Airport found that some international security requirements were not being met.”

Biman will lose business of around Tk 100 crore a year if the ban on direct cargo from Dhaka to the UK continued.
