The number of internet users in Bangladesh witnessed a notable upswing of 10 lakh in August, predominantly attributed to the expansion of the country’s mobile subscriber network.

The number of internet subscribers rose in March as mobile network operators and broadband service providers both bagged new customers due to increased usage of different digital services other than social media. 

The internet subscriber base in Bangladesh has been on a downward curve for four months till November last year due to a sharp drop in the number of mobile internet users.

Digital inclusion still elusive for many citizens

Bangladesh has the lowest data breach density in all of Asia, according to a global study conducted by cybersecurity company Surfshark.

The telecom regulator directs all the internet service providers to incorporate one time password for the free Wifi hotspots across the country for listing the users’ identification on security ground.

Unlike a real-world office, a business website is up and accessible to customers 24 hours a day. Customers will always get to know about the products and services on offer, freeing them from the compulsion of office hours. Businesses can even have a 24-hour product sales mechanism online.

Facebook says it will block access to its website by non-members in Belgium, as it battles a court order to stop tracking Internet users who do not have accounts with the US social media giant.

The number of mobile phone internet users now stands at 5.07 crore, BTRC says with data compiled until August.
