England spin spearhead Jack Leach will miss the rest of their five-match test series against India due to a left knee injury, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said on Sunday.

Left-arm spinner Leach, 32, played a limited role in England's stunning 28-run win in the series opener, where Ben Stokes's men overcame a first-innings deficit of 190 runs, following a problem with his left knee.

Leach, who took four wickets in England's 10-wicket win over Ireland in a one-off test earlier this week, has been an ever-present in England's squad under coach Brendon McCullum and captain Ben Stokes, claiming 46 test wickets last year
