Counterterrorism officials arrested another youth, who was seen in a video removing nuts and bolts from the railing of Padma Bridge.

A day after Padma Bridge was opened, two young men died in a motorcycle accident on the bridge on Sunday (June 26, 2022).

Authorities of Padma Bridge project has asked the engineering support and safety team (RSST) to beef up vigilance on the upper deck of the Padma Bridge and on both sides.

After Padma Bridge was inaugurated today (June 25, 2022) by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, 11 teenagers from Gopalganj’s Muksudpur upazila visited the long-cherished bridge by cycling 53km distance.

Lauding people for their support during the construction of Padma Bridge, PM today said, “You gave us the courage, you gave us the power… I’m ready to sacrifice myself for you. If needed, I will sacrifice my life.”

The government will build the Padma bridge with its own funds and construction work will begin in the current fiscal year, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced in parliament yesterday.
