Police are grappling with operational challenges as more than 400 key posts have remained vacant over the past 10 months, impairing the force’s ability to combat crime. 

The crime rate in Bangladesh has not increased after the interim government took charge on August 8 last year, said Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus.

Home Adviser Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury yesterday urged all not to take the law into their own hands and called on the police to take a more proactive role in maintaining law and order nationwide.
