Political tensions spilled over into cricket in the Asia Cup final between India and Pakistan on Sunday in Dubai and even though the contest is already over, India winning the tie by five wickets, both sides have continued trading barbs.

Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief Mohsin Naqvi on Monday warned India against “dragging war” into sports, saying that doing so only exposed India’s “desperation.”

The two teams did not shake hands for the third Asia Cup match running as India won the final by five wickets in Dubai on Sunday.

India were left celebrating their Asia Cup triumph without the trophy after a dramatic turn of events in Dubai yesterday, following their five-wicket victory over archrivals Pakistan. 

Monday's SAFF U-17 Championship fixture saw the two captains – India's Denny Singh Wangkhem and Pakistan's Abdul Samad – shake hands and exchange pennants.
