Liton Das responded brilliantly after getting dropped from Bangladesh’s provisional 15-man squad for the ICC Champions Trophy by bringing up his maiden century in competitive T20s while playing for Dhaka Capitals against Duranta Rajshahi in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium today.

This will be the first time in 18 years that Bangladesh will play in an ICC event without both Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan

The right-hander’s another batting failure in the match at the Arnos Vale Stadium could have hogged the spotlight had pacer Hasan Mahmud failed to heroically defend 10 runs in the last over to seal a much-needed win for the Tigers. 

“Good start (to win the first T20I). If we play good for another game, we can win the series,” said a confident Liton during the post-match presentation ceremony.

Following a 3-0 drubbing in the preceding ODI series, the Tigers are keen to turn the tide in the T20Is.

The match is scheduled to start at 06:00 am [Monday] Bangladesh time and will be telecast live on T Sports.

Poor string of scores is nothing new for the 30-year-old as he has gone on a run of registering single-digit scores for three or more matches on the trot on four different phases in his 50-over career but this is the longest he has gone without reaching double digits.
