The government is set to increase budget allocation for quick completion of the Rooppur nuclear and Matarbari coal-fired power plant projects.

Towfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, energy advisor to the prime minister, today stood in favour of power generation using coal and said Bangladesh did not make any promise regarding Net Zero Emissions by 2050.

The government will not implement the second phase of the Matarbari coal-based power plant.
