“Priyo Maloti” captures the story of the otherwise ordinary life of Maloti Rani Das played by Mehzabien. The protagonist, newly married to Polash Kumar Das, is a warrior struggling to make ends meet. 

The Göteborg International Film Festival, which starts on January 24, will feature "Saba" in its Voices section, a category dedicated to honouring the works of emerging filmmakers.

The film has received a “U” grade censor certificate, deeming it suitable for audiences of all ages. “Priyo Maloti” has already been showcased at the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) and the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), earning official selections and widespread acclaim. Despite its deeply local context, the film’s themes resonate universally, allowing international audiences to connect with its story and characters.

Known as “Whispers of a Thirsty River” in English, the film is directed by Shankha Das Gupta and will represent Bangladesh in the World Cinema category at CIFF’s 45th edition, taking place from November 13 to 22 at Cairo’s historic Opera House.

The 45th Toronto International Film Festival is set to begin on September 5 and will run for ten days. The actress plans to attend the festival in full glory.
