Bangladesh off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s involvement in the Tigers’ first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle is in doubt due to the 27-year-old suffering from fever, head coach Phil Simmons told the media today.

Less than 24 hours after Najmul Hossain Shanto had spoken about the importance of long-term captaincy during a press conference at the BCB headquarters, Mehidy Hasan Miraz on Friday sat in the same room for his first media interaction since replacing Shanto as skipper in ODIs.

Currently ranked 10th in the ICC ODI rankings -- their lowest position in two decades -- Bangladesh are in need of a turnaround, and Miraz hopes the team can rise from this slump and see the Tigers transform into a settled ODI side within a year.
