Metro rail has started picking up and dropping passengers at the Kazipara and Mirpur-11 stations

The authorities suspended the operations of metro rail for two hours today "on safety ground" as huge number of doused sky lanterns fell on the overhead electricity lines during last night's New Year celebrations.

Metro Rail passengers can buy multipurpose pass cards till 10pm today, MAN Siddique, managing director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited, said today.
