Three people have been killed as a fire broke out at a house in Dhaka’s Mirpur area.

At least 87 shanties and 14 shops are gutted in a devastating fire that broke out at a slum in Baunia Beribadh area of Dhaka’s Mirpur.

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor M Atiqul Islam says all the fundamental assistance would continue for fire victims of ‘Chalantika’ slum near Rupnagar area of Mirpur-7, which broke out at around 7 pm yesterday leaving hundreds of people homeless.

A woman and her seven-month-old son are burnt to death after a fire broke out at a building in Dhaka’s Mirpur area.

“Nobody looked after me. Everybody left me. So, I know the value of caring for others and saving lives,” says Jahanara Begum, who saved her two chickens, leaving aside all other belongings she had, when the fire broke out in a Mirpur slum.
