A 32-year-old Turkish citizen was sent to the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Mohakhali area this noon as health officials identified monkeypox symptoms on him during passenger screening at Dhaka airport.

No monkeypox case has been detected in Bangladesh yet, Dr Md Sharfuddin Ahmed, vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) said today.

The health directorate has issued an alert for all international airports and land ports in Bangladesh to launch monkeypox screening of all incoming passengers from countries where cases have been detected.
