Bangladesh has called for an end to infighting among the Muslim Ummah, saying development is a priority as it may solve many problems automatically.

Lauding the Saudi Arabia-led anti-terror alliance, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday said it has created an opportunity for the entire Muslim Ummah to get united and fight terrorism and militancy. “Around 40 countries have already joined the alliance... Bangladesh also joined it," the PM said in reply to queries from lawmakers in parliament.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina tells the parliament that Bangladesh assured the Muslim world of doing everything necessary to fight militancy and terrorism. She says that the Saudi coalition formed recently is a chance for the Muslim Ummah to unite against terrorism in the name of Islam.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has stressed the need for the unity of the Muslim Ummah and its pursuit of the great Islamic values of justice and inclusion.

The Akheri Munajat, seeking spiritual well-being and welfare of the Muslim Ummah, of the second phase of three-day Biswa Ijtema, ends.

This year for the first time the Biswa Ijtema is being held in four phases to deal with the huge crowd and lack of accommodation for the devotees.

Eid-ul-Azha, the second biggest religious festival of the Muslims, is to be held on September 25.
