Myanmar has been in turmoil since the military ousted Aung San Suu Kyi's elected government in 2021, sparking armed uprisings across the country.

The junta appears more vulnerable than ever. The formerly 500,000-strong military currently stands at around 150,000 troops or fewer and is severely overstretched.

The United States on Wednesday expanded its sanctions against Myanmar to include foreign companies or individuals helping the country's military junta to procure jet fuel that it uses to launch airstrikes on its own people, the US Treasury Department said in a statement

Currently, the military junta is in deep trouble in Rakhine.
