Six people have been killed in a landslide in Phakant, Myanmar's Kachin state that hit the staff quarters of the Township Development Affairs Committee, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reports.

Hopes faded that any of 100 people still missing would be found alive two days after a landslide near a jade mine in northern Myanmar smashed into a makeshift settlement, burying mine workers as they slept.
