Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today (September 19, 2022) said Bangladesh will not allow any more Rohingya people from Myanmar to enter its territory.

Bangladesh wants Myanmar to expedite the verification of the Rohingyas for quickly starting their repatriation that has not been possible in the last five years, with the Rohingyas saying the conditions in Rakhine were not conducive.

Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard have detained eight Myanmar citizens with two lakhs of yaba tablets from a boat in the Bay of Bengal in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

As the number of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh edges towards half a million, the United Nations estimates $200 million will be needed over the next six months to help the Myanmar nationals.
