The High Court today granted six-month bail to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and standing committee member Mirza Abbas in a case filed over the December 7 clashes between police and BNP men in the capital's Nayapaltan area.

A Dhaka court on Wednesday sent BNP leader Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia to jail after rejecting his bail in a non-submission case, in which he was sentenced to three years' imprisonment on Tuesday.

The Election Commission (EC) yesterday sent a letter to the Inspector General of Police seeking a report on the clash between BNP activists and law enforcers in front of the party's Nayapaltan office on November 14.
