After the fire was extinguished completely, the Dhaka New Super Market was handed over to the police at around 10:00am today. Since early morning, the affected traders started crowding in front of the market. Many hoped that some goods might have been saved from the fire. But they could not find anything except burnt debris

Sarees, worth about Tk 85 lakh, were completely damaged at Razzak's shops on the second floor of the market. He, however, could save around 15 percent of his stock after throwing sacks filled with sarees to the ground from the second floor

Numerous shops and goods at the capital's New Super Market were destroyed in a catastrophic fire. 30 firefighting units, along with teams from army, navy, air force, Rab, BGB, police, and local volunteers brought the blaze under control.

New Market will remain closed until further instructions as a fire ripped through the adjoining Dhaka New Super Market early this morning, a few days ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
