Traders of New Market and their employees blocked Nilkhet intersection for around four hours yesterday, protesting Dhaka South City Corporation's plan to turn the market into a two-storey building.

Businessmen of New Market withdraw their blockade at Nilkhet intersection in Dhaka following assurance of local lawmaker Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh that the second floor of the market will not be constructed.

Students of seven colleges took to the streets at 11:30 am yesterday, blocking the capital's Nilkhet intersection for more than two hours. This resulted in lot of suffering for commuters who were stuck in long tailbacks because of the demonstration.
