Bangladesh government will move for implementing the ninth wage board for journalists next week, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader says.

A group of journalists has threatened of hunger strike and subsequently a series of demonstrations in demand for a new pay scale, the ninth wage board.

The government is positive on the note of forming a new wage board for journalists, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader says.

Journalists earn more than government officials and therefore there is no need for ninth wage board for them, Finance Minister AMA Muhith says.

Journalists demand removal of the Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu for not forming the ninth wage board for the newsmen as per their prior ultimatum.
