The cultivation of a variety of onion, known as Kondo in Bangladesh, has been delayed due to excessive rain early this month, when farmers plant seedlings of the crop before harvesting it in early winter

Bangladesh is registering a slow spike in the cultivation of onions during summer with the government patronising the expansion to reduce high import dependence during the lean season from October to November.

Onion seed farming in the district is gaining popularity as the growers are earning a handsome amount of money from its cultivation.
