Legendary Bangladeshi band Souls celebrated its 50-year milestone with a concert titled “Mastercard Presents Souls Unplugged: 50 Years of Timeless Music” last Friday (May 2) at Radisson Blu Chattogram Bay View. Founding members and performers from across the decades reunited for an unforgettable night filled with music, memories, and heartfelt tributes.

Naquib Khan, once a celebrated singer and composer, has been less active with new songs or stage performances in recent years. However, the artiste made a remarkable return, at the “Gaane Gaane Bangladesh” concert held in London where he reunited with his former band, Souls, after nearly four decades.

The iconic musician James, known for his brevity, stands as one of the most celebrated figures in the country's band music industry. The singer usually avoids the limelight however, this time, he broke his silence, responding to the students' movement in his distinctive manner. Partha Barua from the band Souls also expressed his concerns on Facebook.

Shafin Ahmed, the legendary figure in the music industry, was laid to rest atop his father's burial site, with the grave of his mother renowned singer Firoza Begum nearby. 

The members who are performing on this tour are Partha Barua, Mir Masum, Ahsanur Rahman Ashiq, Maruf Hasan Real, and sound engineer Shamim Ahmed.

In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh's renowned band Souls, members are currently touring the United States. The journey kicked off amidst the festivities of the Boishakhi Mela held in Miami on April 14.

A spectacular line-up of the country’s most prominent vocalists that includes Partha Barua, Hamin Ahmed, Bappa Mazumdar, SI Tutul, Mizan Rahman, Kona, Salma, Mahtim Shakib, Abanti Sengupta, Tasnim Anika, Makhon Mia, Kishor, Shafiq Tuhin, Joy Shahriar, Neela Naz, Nasim Ali Khan, actors Imtiaz Barshan, and Zakia Bari Mamo.

Renowned musician and actor Partha Barua is grieving the loss of his father, Bimal Kanti Barua. He breathed his last at the age of 90, on Tuesday (April 2) at their residence in Moghbazar, Dhaka.

Prominent filmmaker Amitabh Reza Chowdhury's 2016 directorial debut “Aynabaji” is one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed films of the country, and its popularity hasn’t yet subsided eight years after its initial release.

Souls, a revered band in the country, has recently surprised fans with the release of their latest single, "Notun Shohor", marking a fresh start for the new year. The song, crafted by London-based lyricist Sheik Rana, was brought to life musically by Partha Barua.

The song, written by Rashid Khan and composed by the singer himself, was recorded live and simultaneously released on his social media handles and YouTube on Tuesday.

On Saturday (September 9), the two Bangladeshi bands, Souls and Artcell reunited in Astralian land and staged a joint concert at the ISEE Church Auditorium of Brisbane.

Partha Barua and his bandmates in Souls are already working with musicians from different parts of the world for their upcoming tracks and “Jodi Dekho” is their first production on their new series.

With their immense talent and a rich musical legacy spanning five decades, Souls continues to captivate audiences worldwide, leaving an enduring mark on the music industry.

The actress received two National Film Awards for her performance in the films “Mrittika Maya” and “Gondi”. Her latest film, "Made in Chittagong", will be released today, in two of Chattogram's theatres.  In the film, Aparna will be sharing the screen with noted singer Partha Barua. Directed by Imraul Rafat, the movie has been made in the regional language of Chattogram.
