Payra port, the third seaport in Bangladesh, expects to see the arrival of larger ships from the first week of April, according to a statement from the shipping ministry issued yesterday.

Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan tells parliament that the Payra Seaport will be built on a government-to-government (G-to-G) and foreign direct investment (FDI) basis.

The Payra Port Authority (PPA) under the shipping ministry yesterday signed the first memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Belgian company Jan De Nul for capital dredging and ongoing maintenance dredging to develop the Payra Deep-sea Port.

The government today is going to sign the first memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the Payra Deep-sea Port project with Belgian company Jan De Nul for an estimated $2 billion capital dredging and maintenance dredging.
