IP rights protection can encourage innovation and entrepreneurial enthusiasm on a large scale

Recently, four individuals were arrested by E-Fraud Investigation and Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) team of Cyber Crime Investigation Department, Dhaka Metropolitan Police, on allegation of illegally streaming movies and series through piracy on platforms registered similarly to Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO Technologies Bangladesh, and Disney Hotstar.

Theft and piracy have become a matter of concern for the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) as six such incidents took place in vessels arriving at the port in the six months to July this year.

Both "Shurongo" and "Priyotoma" have recently become victims of piracy after their films were released on movie-related platforms.

On November 4, domain names of Z-Library, the website which claimed to be the world’s largest ebook library, were seized by the US Department of Justice.
