First, a gang smuggles solid wastes of leather (leftovers after cutting and trimming) from the Savar Tannery Industrial Estate.  Then it sells them to poultry and fish feed producing factories around  the country.

Ten persons have been handed two-year jail terms each for producing poultry feed using leather waste treated with toxic chemicals.

The Supreme Court upholds its earlier verdict asking the government to stop functioning of the poultry and fish feed factories that are using tannery waste in Hazaribagh area of Dhaka.
