A show of ‘Power’ had been missing in ‘Powerplays’ for Bangladesh in the past editions of the T20 World Cups, as batters have more often than not failed to make use of the field restrictions in the first six overs -- a handicap that has hindered the team’s fortunes in the competition.

When Bangladesh lock horns with South Africa on Friday, July 10 for the first ODI of the 3-match series, new rules for 50-over international matches made by ICC will come into effect.

In a move to give bowlers a bit of breathing room in 50-overs cricket, the ICC board has decided to do away with catching fielders in the first ten overs, get rid of the batting Powerplay, and allow 5 fielders outside the 30-yard circle in the last 10 overs of an ODI innings.
