A teacher of Dhaka University threatens to call the police on students pressing for release of a friend who is in police custody for involvement in the quota reform movement.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Akhtaruzzaman says the quota reformists are creating agitation at campus through “militancy style” propaganda.

The recommendations made by several public service reform committees and Public Service Commission since the introduction of quota system in civil service in 1972 will be reviewed to decide on either reformation or cancellation of the system, says Cabinet Secretary M Shafiul Alam.

The ongoing quota reform movement actually has a disguised motive of sabotage against the government, vice chancellor (VC) of Rajshahi University (RU) alleges.
