Due to excessive heat, the rail line in Brahmanbaria's Sadar upazila has been bent again. According to the Brahmanbaria Railway Station master Rafiqul Islam, the incident happened on Saturday around 10:30am in the Dariapur area.

Rail-related fatalities are on the rise as over 80 percent level crossings, authorised and unauthorised, in the country are unprotected.

Poor maintenance of level crossings and railway bridges by the authorities, among other issues, contributed to the rise in rail accidents that claimed 209 lives across the country in the last six months, says a report of a journalists’ platform.

Railway Minister M Mujibul Haq says a total 203 people were killed and other 586 were injured in train accidents in the last eight years since 2009-10.
