The late Autumn showers across Dhaka and many other parts of the country caused by a low in the Bay of Bengal is likely to linger till tomorrow, Bangladesh Meteorology Department says.

Dhaka city has seen some respite from the sweeping heat wave of the last few days with the bout of monsoon shower in the morning.

Dhaka dwellers welcomed the first day of monsoon today with light showers and thunderbolts. Today is the first day of Bangla month Ashar, and the welcome rain offered city dwellers a big relief from the scorching heat.

The celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest festival of Muslims, was dampened by incessant rainfall since the morning.

Rain and thunder shower is likely to occur in different regions of the country for the next two days.

Bangladesh Meteorological Department predicts rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind at a few places over the country in 24 hours as of 9:00am tomorrow.

Commuters suffer as many thoroughfares of Dhaka city have gone under water due to heavy rainfall caused by active monsoon over Bangladesh. The rain is expected to continue for the next four to five days.
