Film actor Shakib Khan has been fined Tk 10 lakh for constructing his house in Dhaka’s Niketon area violating the Rajuk-approved design.

The High Court yesterday directed two Rajuk officials to surrender before a lower court in six weeks in connection with a case filed for forgery over the design of FR Tower.

The Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) stated in a press conference on April 8 that its members have discovered around 2,000 incidents in which signatures of architects were forged.

Violating the then building rules, Rajuk in December 1996 approved an 18-storey high-rise in Banani, where the FR Tower stands today.
