Survivors and their families still say little has changed

Ismail had been photographing the Rana Plaza disaster and its victims since 2013, having taken breaks in between due to the sheer mental exhaustion that he faced as an onlooker of such a tragedy.

The trial progress in the murder case filed over the 2013 Rana Plaza collapse has been dismal as only one out of 594 prosecution witnesses has so far testified.

Nine years have passed since the collapse of Rana Plaza, and yet majority of the survivors are still reeling from the traumas, both physical and mental, of that fateful day.

To mark the nine years anniversary of Rana Plaza tragedy, the industrial disaster that killed more than 1,100 people back in 2013, a remembrance programme was held today (April 23, 2022) with candle light vigil for the victims.
