Govt must formulate clear guidelines on rice processing

Defying a ban, millers across the country continue polishing rice excessively and marketing it as “miniket” in the absence of monitoring.

The government will enact a law to stop polishing of rice as it loses its inherited nutritional value in the process, Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder said today.
