Six Myanmar border guard police have been wounded in an attack by Rohingya Muslim insurgents in Rakhine state, government media reports, amid fears of escalating violence in the region.

Rohingya Muslim insurgents say that ten Rohingya found in a mass grave in Myanmar's troubled Rakhine state last month were "innocent civilians", and not members of their group.

China endorses Myanmar's offensive against Rohingya Muslim insurgents, Myanmar state media has said, as the UN secretary-general has described the operation, forcing nearly 400,000 people to flee to Bangladesh, as "ethnic cleansing".
