Some government officials  including members of law enforcement agencies were involved in the rampant looting of stones from Bholaganj’s Sada Pathor area, found a probe committee of the Sylhet district administration.

Mohammad Sher Mahbub Murad, deputy commissioner of Sylhet, has been removed from his post and attached to the public administration ministry as an officer on special duty (OSD).

Amid an outcry over the ruin of Sada Pathor in Sylhet’s Bholaganj, another popular tourist spot in the district has similarly been ravaged by a syndicate of plunderers.

The district administration, during a joint operation in Bholaganj of Sylhet’s Companiganj upazila and parts of Sylhet city, has recovered over 35,000 cubic feet of stones previously looted from the Sada Pathor tourist spot.

The arrest is part of an ongoing joint operation by the district administration and law enforcement to recover looted stones from the Dholai riverbank
