Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting says he would consider the role of chairman of selectors if offered the job and is also open to discussions on a coaching position with the team.

Australia's chairman of selectors Rod Marsh quit with immediate effect Wednesday after a run of five heavy Test defeats left the team in crisis, saying it was time for "some fresh thinking".

Andrew Fekete and Cameron Bancroft are the two uncapped members of the 15-man Test squad announced for Bangladesh tour in October.
