Intel has announced on April 14, that it will sell a 51 percent stake in its Altera semiconductor division to private equity firm Silver Lake, in a deal that values the business at $8.75 billion. 

The suit alleges that the world's largest contract manufacturer of chips -- used in everything from Apple iPhones to Nvidia's AI hardware -- unfairly favors Asian staff in terms of hiring, firing and working standards.

The US government has recently announced an investment of approximately $825 million to establish a new semiconductor research and development (R&D) facility at the Albany NanoTech Complex in New York.
