After breaking records in Bangladeshi theatres, “Toofan” also won over audiences in the United States, Canada, Australia, Europe, and the Middle East. The film is now all set to be released in Malaysia.

Since the anti-discrimination student movement, Dhallywood has experienced a prolonged period of inactivity, with both the release and production of new films coming to a standstill. Although the interim government has gradually initiated plans for new movies, many productions are still falling behind schedule.

Raihan Rafi's “Toofan” has not only gained popularity in Bangladesh but has also performed well in theatres in the US, Australia, and Canada.

The nation faced widespread disruption and violence during the anti-discrimination student movement, which also took a toll on the film industry. Although the situation began to stabilise after the interim government assumed control, filmmakers are hesitant to release their movies. As a result, release dates are being postponed repeatedly, with no clear indication of when new films will hit the screens.

In recent years, attendance at Eid-special movie releases saw a significant surge. However, this Eid, the Shakib Khan starrer "Toofan" not only met but exceeded records set in the past few years. The song “Laage Ura Dhura” from the Eid special release “Toofan” quickly gained widespread popularity online, upon its release. Featuring vocals by Pritom Hasan and Debosrie Antara, the track has not only been trending in Bangladesh but has also made its mark on YouTube's global trending chart. 

Following violent clashes between student protesters and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists at different public universities around the country, celebrities have voiced their support for the quota reform movement. The July 15 incident left approximately 300 people injured, including female students and BCL members. As of July 17 (3:00pm), six fatalities have been reported due to the ongoing unrest.

Lyricist Shorif Uddin has expressed his frustration, stating that the song, which he had given to Pritom Hasan two years ago for a personal project, was used in the film without his consent. Additionally, another lyricist was added to the credits without his permission.

The song "Laage Ura Dhura", directed by Raihan Rafi and starring Shakib Khan and Mimi Chakraborty, has achieved significant success, currently trending at number four on the YouTube Charts Global Weekly Top Songs.

Anonno Mamun's pan-Indian film "Dorod" has officially set its release date for September 6, hitting cinema screens across Bangladesh and India.

Pori Moni, Mim, Dighi, Puja Chery, and Keya Payel have firmly established themselves as prominent figures in the Dhallywood family. These influential actresses came together to support Shakib Khan’s latest business venture, Aponjon. Cheerfully standing by his side during a recent event, they showcased their solidarity as Shakib Khan unveiled his new initiative aimed at supporting small traders.

The movie stars Shakib Khan alongside India's Mimi Chakraborty and Bangladesh's Nabila, with significant roles played by Chanchal Chowdhury, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Gazi Rakayet, Salauddin Lavlu, and Gausul Alam Shaon. 

Mahiya Mahi, a renowned actress in the Dhallywood industry, took a hiatus for marriage and motherhood. However, following her separation from her second husband, she is now preparing to make a comeback to the screen.

In the first six months of this year, around 30 films have been released in the country, with only a few achieving notable commercial successes. However, several movies and songs have generated significant buzz in the entertainment industry and among audiences.

"There will be new surprises during the two-month-long promotional campaign of 'Dorod'. A first major event involving Shakibians (Shakib’s fans) will be organised. During this event, the specific release date of 'Dorod' as a pan-Indian film will be announced," he added.

Shakib Khan’s “Toofan” was released in 47 theatres, including South City, Star Theater, and Lake Mall in Kolkata, on July 5.

Since its release in Bangladesh, the Shakib Khan starrer film “Toofan” is now creating quite a stir in West Bengal. The excitement was palpable at Thursday night's press conference, where it became evident that the people of West Bengal are keenly interested in the blockbuster. 

Private TV channel Deepto has announced to host a “Shakib Week” from July 6 to 12, showcasing seven of Shakib Khan’s prominent films. This week-long event highlights the star's extensive filmography, despite no specific occasion prompting the celebration.

From metro stations to billboards, “Toofan” posters are prominently displayed throughout Kolkata. Industry insiders are optimistic that the film will replicate its success in Bangladesh and achieve similar acclaim in India.
