Two-time world champion Shericka Jackson withdrew from heats for the Olympic 200m on Sunday in another hammer blow for the Jamaican team.

"She has given up her place in the 100 metres ... all the information that we can provide is that she is not going to participate in the 100 metres," Watts, Jamaica's track and field team manager, told Reuters.

The 29-year-old Jamaican's victory was never in doubt as she ran a superb bend to enter the straight with a clear lead and finished in a stunning 21.41sec, leaving the others to battle for the minor medals.

Richardson sprinted to a championship record of 10.65sec despite being in lane nine to seal a US 100m double after Noah Lyles' victory in the men's event on Sunday.
