A pick-up van driver was dead and at least six people were injured in a collision between two ferries – Begum Rokeya and Sufia Kamal – on Shimulia-Majhikandi route in the river Padma in Shariatpur’s Jajira upazila early today.

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury today (May 5, 2022) requested the Dhaka-bound passengers to use the Daulatdia route to cross the Padma river as a small number of ferries are operating at Shimulia.
