Time and again, Bangladeshi pioneering folk fusion band Shironamhin has established itself at the forefront of Bangladeshi musical leaders. Armed with a melodic identity that celebrates tradition whilst adapting modernity, Shironamhin has journeyed to maintain our cultural devoutness. Founded in the late 1990s, they utilise their culturally unique identity as musical storytellers to travel across the world for the sake of their fans and leadership.

The Bengali New Year is being celebrated today with vibrant arrangements unfolding across the country. From lively concerts to musical performances, renowned artistes and bands are taking the stage to delight audiences and spread festive cheer nationwide.

While the band has graced stages across the globe, this will mark their long-awaited live debut in Canada.

Under the initiative of “Shobar Agey Bangladesh Foundation”, a series of “Swadhinata Concerts” will be held simultaneously in four divisional cities, including Dhaka, on April 11.

After months of uncertainty, concert enthusiasts finally have a reason to rejoice. Several concerts had been postponed in recent months due to security concerns. However, the wait is over, as two major concerts are set to take place today at separate venues in the capital, featuring an exciting lineup of musicians.

Popular band Shironamhin, alongside releasing a new song for Valentine’s Day, has also surprised fans at the Amar Ekushey Book Fair with the launch of Shironamhin “Geetikobita Samagra”, published by Gatidhara Prakashani.

The much-anticipated concert “Gala Night” for the Flower Fest 2025 event is set to take place at the MA Aziz Stadium in Chattogram on February 6.

This year, the Victory Day feels particularly significant due to this year’s powerful uprising. To commemorate this special day, here are some events to help you embrace the spirit of patriotism. 

“Cultural Fest 2.0,” a national youth talent competition is set to take place on November 15 at the Aloki Convention Centre in Gulshan in the capital. 

Winter tends to mark the arrival of the concert season, with November and December bringing a host of live music events both in Dhaka and beyond. This year is no different, as a concert titled “The Capital” is set to light up the stage on November 15, showcasing performances by 10 bands from around the country.

In May 2019, the band Shironamhin made a comeback with the song “Ei Obelay”. At a time when the band was struggling to meet fan expectations with a new vocalist, this song served as a lifeline for Shironamhin. Now, almost five years later, the band is releasing a sequel, “Ei Obelay 2”. 

Shironamhin has been actively performing stage shows to aid flood victims with continuous concerts since last month.

Yesterday, United Communication organised an incredible event, the first season of "Dhaka Rock Carnival: Shadhin Bangla Betar", which delivered a memorable musical experience to the city. 

A major concert is set to electrify Dhaka this weekend, showcasing a stellar lineup of the nation’s top bands, including Carnival, Meghdol, and Shironamhin, among others. 

The Jagannath University Band Music Association is hosting a charity concert to support flood relief efforts across 11 districts of the country.

People across the nation have rallied to support those affected by the floods. Whether it's through donations of money, clothes, or food, everyone is finding ways to assist the flood victims. Some have even travelled to the hardest-hit areas to provide direct aid. The country’s music industry has also stepped up, actively raising funds to help those in need during this crisis.

On Friday, August 23, a concert titled “Joruri Shongjog” was held at the base of the Raju Memorial Sculpture at Dhaka University to raise funds for flood victims. The event commenced in the afternoon where a large gathering came forward to contribute to the cause.

Heavy rains and landslides from upstream India have inundated the southeastern districts of the country. Regions such as Feni, Noakhali, Lakshmipur, Cumilla, Habiganj, Moulvibazar, Rangamati, and Khagrachari are struggling with severe flooding. 

With lyrics by Ziaur Rahman and music by Kazy Ahmad Shafin, the song poignantly asks, "Why are the birds of this city flying aimlessly like the blind all night? In the scorching heat, why does the red sun still burn in the sky, turning everything to ashes?"

In support of the ongoing quota reform movement, artistes and performers from our diverse industries have been taking to the streets in various locations. However, today musicians in particular, are gearing up to make a significant impact in the music scene, inspired by the lyrics of Bob Marley's renowned song, "Get Up, Stand Up".
