Shwapno, the leading retail chain brand in Bangladesh, started making operating profit, but its loss accumulated to Tk 1,661 crore over the past 15 years largely due to mammoth loans that are pushing up finance costs every year.

Shwapno, the largest retail chain in Bangladesh, plans to raise the number of its stores by 10 times to 3,000 in the next three to five years to meet the growing demand for comfortable shopping among urbanites and become a profitable entity by increasing sales volume. 

Bangladesh’s largest retail chain Shwapno registered 31 per cent year-on-year growth in sales in the July to December period of 2022-23.

Retail chain Shwapno started its export journey by sending it first consignment to Hong Kong on March 31.
