After nearly 21 years, Thakurgaon Silk Factory resumed its production last week with the new name ‘Suprio Silk Factory’.

The rich, cultural heritage of Bangladesh’s fashion industry was on full display at the Majestic Silks of Bangladesh Exhibition, organised by one of the pioneers of the sector, Maheen Khan. The three-day exhibition that took place at the Nordic Great Hall, Gulshan 2 was a follow-up of a fashion show with the same moniker that took place a month ago and displayed the collection showcased there.

Maheen Khan is a well-known innovator in Bangladesh's design sector. She has established a market for clothing with regionally distinctive patterns. A lot has been said and written about how she and FDBC have been struggling to ensure a place for slow fashion and take the prestigious weaves of Bangladesh to global heights. Her new collection ‘Majestic Silks of Bangladesh’ debut at the Gulshan Lake Park was no less an effort than that.
