Sitakunda has frequently made headlines for accidents inside industrial units, but these two incidents have adversely affected locals quite some distance from the sites.

The absence of workers’ safety equipment and a lack of inspections of heavy machinery are to blame for Sunday’s explosion at the Sheema Oxygen Plant in Sitakunda’s Keshabpur, said probe officials

"We submitted all of the necessary paperworks to the relevant authorities last night. Our explosive license, fire license, and other papers and documents are up to date and in order. We also had fire-fighting equipment in the factory"
