The Supreme Court directs the authorities concerned to refrain from earth filling in agricultural land, water bodies and parts of Meghna River at different areas of Sonargaon upazila in Narayanganj in the names of Sonargaon Resort City and Sonargaon Economic Zone.

The woes of 12,000 villagers on the Meghna in Sonargaon are not likely to lessen despite the highest court's ban against damaging their ancestral agricultural land.
