HC scraps 16th amendment
High Court scraps 16th amendment to the constitution that empowered the parliament to impeach Supreme Court judges for incapacity or misconduct. Terming the amendment law as ‘a historical accident’, the court says it is against the principle of separation of powers and independence of the judiciary. Government says it will appeal against the ruling.
