Bangladesh began discussions on developing a mechanism for exchange of information on funds deposited by the Bangladeshi citizens in the Swiss banks to ensure that there is no confusion over the matter.

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has said that Swiss Ambassador Natalie Chuard’s statement that Bangladesh has not sought any specific information on the accounts of Bangladeshi citizens in the Swiss Bank is untrue.

The BNP yesterday alleged that the deposits by Bangladeshis in Swiss banks rose sharply as the Awami League men were siphoning off their ill-gotten money there.
