Voter turnout could reach up to 40 percent each in the Rajshahi and Sylhet city corporation elections, Election Commissioner Rashida Sultana said today.

While turnout of voters in old areas of Sylhet City Corporation was disappointing, a festive mood prevailed in the newly added areas during the city polls today

Election Commissioner Rashida Sultana this morning said the commission has not found any allegations of election irregularities so far in the Rajshahi and Sylhet city corporation polls

"I believe in democracy," he told reporters. "My party is a democratic party. Even if I lose the election, I will accept the result"

The voting started at 8:00am and will continue until 4:00pm without any break
