A large part of Sylhet region has been flooded as rivers have swollen over the safe level.

Incessant rainfall in the last few days triggers flooding situations in three districts of Sylhet division and some upazilas of Chittagong district.

As with every major flood, people in the affected areas are likely to face problems with safe drinking water and hence we hope authorities are already mapping flooded areas to make these available. What we do not want is the supply of expired medication, instances of which happened during the floods last August.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina says her government has all preparations to tackle the flood situation.
