At least forty people, mostly women and children are killed in the latest wave of US-led coalition airstrikes against the last remaining Islamic State-held pocket in Syria near the border with Iraq, the militants and some local residents said.

Scottish MPs will take part in the Commons debate and vote later on whether the UK should launch air strikes against so called Islamic State targets in Syria.
